The blood drive is a statewide effort to collect 180+ units of blood before the 4th of July, which usually sees a shortage of blood.
Troy, a member of the Jadyn Fred Foundation, was diagnosed in 2017 with a rare autoimmune disease that causes severe internal bleeding in his lungs. He had multiple blood transfusions that saved his life. Now, he depends on a medicine that uses donor plasma. They believe he will need that medicine for his entire life.
We want to use his story to inspire and educate others about the importance of blood donation. Even though the blood won’t go to Troy, it will go to other people’s loved ones and that is our mission when we talk about being #troystrong.
